THINGS TO BE REMEMBERED

Archives 1918

The Holy Spirit . . . shall bring to your remembrance all that I have said.

Remember that God’s method of answering a prayer cannot be definitely outlined by the one who prays. Divine law is so infinite in its possibilities that merely finite plans hinder its operation.

Ask for what you want, but do not try to tell God how to deliver it. He will reveal to you what you shall do, if you will unload your mind of all preconceived plans. You have tried your own plans and failed; why not open your consciousness to God’s new plans? He will provide the way, if you will provide the faith and the willingness to CO-operate.

Human plans fail because they are too narrow or selfish. God’s plans are always broad and fair and kind. God is love. Love is the greatest constructive force in the universe. The things for which you are praying must be constructed by love. Let love have its perfect way. It cannot have its perfect way if you put selfishness before it.

Do not pray that somebody will pay you what he owes you, but pray that your own shall come to you. Why should we try to force our prosperity through the narrow channel of some debtor’s resources when God’s supply is infinite and His channels for getting good to us are infinite? God’s boundless ideas of prosperity cannot be measured in the pint cups of man’s selfish measure.

Any prayer that calls for good to be received at the expense of some one else, falls short. Let your consciousness expand in good will and in fearless anticipation when you pray.
